Forbes recently recognized Maria Sharapova as the highest paid female athlete for the seventh consecutive year. In addition to her on court accomplishments, Sharapova’s off-field endeavors, especially in the fashion realm, have helped her nab that top spot. Since she first appeared in the brand’s “Sporting” collection ad campaign in 2009, Sharapova has been the face of Cole Haan and an integral part of the design process acting as “lead collaborator.” Her collections have proven that fashion and sport can work together to create innovative new items for women. In the case of her Cole Haan line, shoes not only keep up with runway trends but they also infuse Nike Air technology for a comfortable fit.

The company’s Fall 2011 ads feature Sharapova once again and will debut in print, in the pages of September magazines. The ads were shot in New York by photographer, Daniel Jackson and feature a mix of still life product shots, group shots and single portraits.

“It was important to create images that captured the youthful and timeless character of our brand and our consumers,” said Gavin Francis Thomas, senior director of global communications for Cole Haan. “The fall ’11 collection draws inspiration from the dualities that exist in both the lives of our consumers as well as in what we create, and this campaign brings this to life with playful spirit.” [WWD]
