A slight alteration to a team’s attire, be it a color change on jerseys or an added element to helmets, can cause an uproar among fans. The college football fashion frenzy has taken center stage this season. From countless uniform combinations to retro looks to the latest crop of Nike Pro-Combat styles, teams are constantly introducing new and improved threads each week. The feedback from college sports fans and the media has been less than consistent. While many embrace the sartorial changes, others reject them.
This weekend, ESPN’s College GameDay got in on the action, as they tackled the subject of on-field college football fashions. Together with Erin Andrews, they enlisted the help of the “experts” from E! Fashion Police: the ultimate red carpet critic, Joan Rivers, stylist George Kotsiopoulos and Kelly Osbourne. The group sat down to discuss the Oregon Ducks and the Maryland Terrapins, the most buzzed about teams this season when it comes to uniforms. And it wouldn’t be an episode of Fashion Police without a few great one-liners from Rivers. Here’s a taste:
On the Oregon Ducks:
“I feel a special connection to the team because Nike designs new uniforms for them each year, which is exactly what my plastic surgeon does to my face.”

In addition to Rivers and her co-hosts, GameDay gathered a few fashion designers to share their thoughts on the latest in college football uniforms. Check it out:

I really liked how you incorporated video and pictures in along with comments that you had. It really allowed multiple opinions and Joan Rivers joining Erin Andrews really allowed different perspective on the women and the NFL.
