Much like the NFL draft or the NBA draft, the Heisman Trophy ceremony puts young players on a big stage. Though fans are most eager to see who will snag the coveted trophy, all eyes are also on the fashion. And when it comes to college football’s most prestigious honor, the candidates want to dress the part.

The final 2011 Heisman standings were as follows: #1 Robert Griffin III (Baylor), #2 Andrew Luck (Stanford), #3 Trent Richardson (Alabama), #4 Montee Ball (Wisconsin) and #5 Tyrann Mathieu (LSU). The five finalists have proven themselves on the field all season long but who managed to score the most style points? Some guys stirred up quite a buzz with their unique clothing and accessory choices while others played it safe. Here’s how A Glam Slam ranked their Heisman Trophy ceremony fashions:

#1 Tyrann Mathaiu (“Honey Badger”): Despite finishing fifth in the Heisman race, Tyrann Mathieu’s speed and skills stood out all season long and at the trophy ceremony, it was his ensemble that stood out. His flashy, metallic silver suit was paired with a blue and white striped tie and a dyed blond faux-hawk. It was a very bold style selection but on this big occasion, he managed to pull it off.

#2 Robert Griffing III (RG111): The 2011 Heisman winner has now become a fashion trendsetter, landing him the #2 spot. Making a major style statement of his own, RGIII added a bit of footwear flair to his traditional pinstripe suit and yellow paisley tie combo. And that flair came in the form of Superman-themed socks, complete with the iconic “S” logo and a red cape. The socks have gone on to cause a fashion frenzy, currently selling on ebay for over $150 a pair.

#3 Montee Ball: Ball gave a sartorial shoutout to his Wisconsin Badgers team, wearing a vibrant red dress shirt and red and white checkered tie. Paired with a sleek, dark gray suit and diamond studs, his look was school spirited yet chic.

#4 Trent Richardson: The black and white houndstooth scarf that Richardson was seen sporting pre-show was a bit questionable. Once he finally removed the scarf and jacket, he looked dapper in a dark suit, red tie and thick-rimmed specs.

#5 Andrew Luck: Likely to become the top draft pick, Luck might need to work on his style game to keep up with a very fashion-forward NFL. Dressed conservatively in a dark suit and red tie, the ensemble looked a bit too presidential. But we have seen better looks from Luck in the past, so all hope is not lost.
