Ahead of the 2012 London Games, Nike has unveiled a range of Olympics gear, including the uniforms that will be worn by Team USA men’s and women’s basketball teams and track and field athletes. In addition to unique design elements, the innovative Summer fashions have an eco-friendly theme. Here’s a breakdown of the Olympics-inspired products:

The 2012 Team USA ballers will wear “Hyper Elite” uniforms from the sportswear giant. They’ll go for gold in gear that is lighter, sleeker and cooler than the uniforms currently worn by professional players. The innovative new threads include Nike “Aerographics,” an engineered fabric that is “a passive cooling solution allowing greater design and graphic flexibility while creating mesh areas in a garment without adding seams.” The Hyper Elite shorts weigh in at 14 ounces lighter than the average shorts worn in the pros.

From a design standpoint, the jerseys feature bold graphics, with color blocking in red, white and blue, and a country-specific battle cry on the inside of the neck. The jerseys were made with approximately 96% recycled polyester and the Nike Hyper Elite Basketball Uniform saves an average of 22 recycled plastic bottles per uniform.

To compliment the gear, players will sport the Nike Hyperdunk footwear. The kicks feature a combination of advanced Nike Flywire technology and a basketball-specific Nike Lunarlon cushioning systemfor shoes that are lighter, more supportive, durable and breathable. Since the 2012 USA men’s Olympic basketball squad was revealed, the team has already been compared to the 1992 team. To honor the 20th anniversary of the 1992 Dream Team’s gold medal win, Nike has also created a range of commemorative apparel and footwear. The Dream Team Destroyer Jacket features a series of intricate details that pay homage to one of the greatest sports team ever assembled. The navy and white jacket includes the scores of each individual game, the numbers of the five starting players who were on the team, and an “XX” graphic on the back of the jacket to celebrate the anniversary. To add a bit of patriotic flair, the words “Land of the Free” and “Home of the Brave” also appear above the pockets on either side.

The Dream Team footwear collection features a select group of sneakers originally worn by the 1992 stars. The line consists of five memorable styles of the past games including: the Air Force 1 shoe, Air More Uptempo, Air Force 180, Air Zoom Huarache 2K4 and Shox BB4. Each nostalgic model in the pack features a red, white and blue colorway. The Nike Dream Team apparel and footwear will be available this Summer.

To maximize the velocity of this year’s Olympic athletes, Nike also developed the skintight, Pro TurboSpeed uniform. Dubbed the fastest track uniform Nike has ever built, the gear incorporates over 1,000 hours of wind tunnel testing and insights from some of the fastest athletes in the world. According to Nike, the suit is reportedly .023 seconds faster over 100 meters than the company’s previous uniform. On average, Nike Pro TurboSpeed uniforms use 82% recycled polyester fabric. Athletes have a variety of options as it comes in a singular full-body suit, a two-piece option and shorter styles.

In addition to the gear, Nike debuted the ultra-light Nike Zoom Superfly R4 and Nike Zoom Victory Elite. Uniting superior fit, support and traction, these cutting-edge spikes prepare athletes for their greatest performance ever. For additional information and photos of the gear, visit here.
