UGG Australia opened a dedicated UGG for Men flagship store last night, at 600 Madison Avenue in New York City. The new shop marks the first dedicated UGG for Men location in the world, housing footwear, outerwear, accessories and small leather goods, all geared towards men.

New England Patriots QB and UGG for Men ambassador, Tom Brady, was on-hand to celebrate the opening. Brady became the first athlete to endorse the brand, beginning with his role in the Fall 2011 campaign. The move was part of the brand’s efforts to expand it’s presence in the men’s market. At the time of the initial announcment, Decker CEO Angel Martinez had explained, “We have decided that we needed to just get the word out there that it’s a brand for guys, give guys permission to wear UGG. And who better to give guys permission to wear UGG than … Tom Brady.” To further spread the word, Brady even gifted his teammates with the boots when they reached the Super Bowl earlier this year.

GQ magazine caught up with Tom at yesterday’s store opening, where he spoke about his hair, black tie fashions, new Nike uniforms, and his involvement with UGG for Men. For the full interview, read on here. Here are a few excerpts:

On his “go-to” UGGs:
“Look around, there are so many. My favorite, same as most guys, is the Ascot. I have about six pairs of those.”

On his favorite part of working with the UGG brand:
“It’s been a couple years and it feels like family. They’re so easy to work with, we’ve had fun on every shoot we’ve done. There’s a great flow of information that goes back and forth between what they’re looking for and what we’re looking for and it ends up being a great partnership. I think I’ve been fortunate over the years to be at a point in my career where I really get to choose the partnerships that I really want to take on and they’re a perfect fit.”
