Bethanie Mattek-Sands is often celebrated for her style in addition to her skill set. The tennis pro has a colorful personality and a colorful fashion sense to match. She’s garnered attention for her sartorial selections both on and off-the-court. With a style that’s uniquely her own, she’s always pushing the fashion boundaries of the game and her edgy ensembles spark headlines and test the tennis fashion police (she was fined for wearing a cowboy hat at the 2005 U.S. Open).

Sands is not scared to make a statement and her desire to take fashion risks has led many to dub her the “Lady Gaga” of the game. She has even worked with some of the same designers as the singer, resulting in memorable fashion moments including a white fringe jacket accented with tennis balls and a yellow, tennis-ball inspired gown:

Though her 2012 U.S. Open singles run was short-lived, Sands left fans with another fashionable on-court impression. Her funky style was a sharp contrast to that of her opponent, Venus Williams, who sported a floral-inspired dress. The final Grand Slam of the season had Sands styled in her signature high socks, Eye Black, bright red sneakers and an Andrew Charles tank. Fans will see a lot more of the latter as the company has become her new clothing sponsor.

Sands has signed an endorsement deal with Andrew Charles, a fashion brand perfectly on point with her sense of style. The rock ‘n’ roll inspired label was founded by Andy Hilfiger. The line launched in Fall 2011, with a men’s collection inspired by Aerosmith rocker, Steven Tyler, and a women’s collection inspired by the bohemian styles of the 1970s. Sands will sport the gear both on and off-the-court and fans can expect to see more one-of-a-kind looks.

“Bethanie Mattek-Sands embodies the attitude of Andrew Charles,” said Creative Director, Andy Hilfiger. “She’s a true rock star on the court.”
