Lindsey Vonn has collaborated with her friend and fashion designer, Cynthia Rowley, to develop a custom helmet design for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Vonn has long expressed an interest in the fashion world and earlier this year, she attended the CFDA Awards together with Rowley. This new partnership fuses her interests in both style and sport.
The U.S. alpine team will be named Jan. 26, and those competitors “will be able to wear any helmet they like, as long as it is certified by the International Ski Federation,” a U.S. ski team spokesman said Thursday.
Vonn posted the four helmet designs on her Facebook page, where she asked fans to vote for their favorite piece of headwear. The featured Briko helmet styles include motifs ranging from florals to leaves to watercolor hues. The helmets are named as follows: “Speed of Light,” “Snow Leopard,” “Go for the Gold,” and “Winged Victory.”
“I wanted to find a way to involve the fans in this exciting chapter in my life,” said Vonn. “Partnering with Cynthia on the design component was such an obvious choice for me, given her talents and our friendship.”
