Sneakers are always a hot topic in the NBA. Each season we see the introduction of new styles and colorways, special edition player shoes and in some cases, sneakers banned for alleged "performance-enhancing" benefits. However we have yet to see a luxury designer join the ranks of Nike, adidas and Reebok on the court - until now. Gilbert Arenas hit the hardwood in a pair of black patent leather Dolce & Gabbana high-top sneakers during yesterday's game between the Wizards and the Lakers.

Arenas has been experimenting with a variety of footwear options in recent games, after his endorsement deal with adidas was terminated earlier in the year. But none of his new shoes have caused quite as much fashion buzz as the $395 D&G; high-top kicks. Not only were they aesthetically awesome but the shoes also matched the Wizards' uniform to a tee. Arenas' team did not come away with a win, but he definitely scored some major style points.

And while this might have been D&G;’s debut on the hardwood, it is not the first time we’ve seen the fashion brand tied to sports. The design duo dresses the AC Milan and Chelsea soccer teams, the Italian national team and recently became the title sponsor of the Milano Thunder, an Italian boxing team.
