Last year, funny lady Betty White dominated the Super Bowl commercial chatter with this humorous Snickers ad. This year's Big Game spots will feature yet another crop of high-profile female celebs and a series of "powerful" ads to match.
Race car driver, Danica Patrick, and "The Biggest Loser" fitness guru, Jillian Michaels, will star in two :30 second spots for GoDaddy.com. The brand, which has advertised during the Super Bowl since 2005, will utilize these two "Super Women" to help hype its ".co" domain. To introduce this new Web domain, the company will also bring in a third GoDaddy girl in one of its two Super Bowl spots. According to USA Today:
While GoDaddy CEO Bob Parsons won't reveal who she is, he says 'she's a well-known, edgy, racy iconic actress. And she's our first blonde.'
In one ad, Patrick and Michaels star as superheroes who crash through walls to find small businesses that still don't have their own websites. In the other ad, dubbed "The Big Reveal," the two women stand on stage to introduce the new GoDaddy girl in a very provocative way, Parsons says.
Among the commercial competition will be an ad for Sketchers Shape-Ups, one of the many calorie-burning, toning shoe lines on the market. The Sketchers brand has tapped into reality TV queen, Kim Kardashian, to help make their ad the most memorable. Details of the spot will be kept under raps but based on Kim's racy commercial past (remember this?) we can only imagine what she'll bring out for the Big Game.
Fans can also keep an eye out for country singer, Faith Hill, who will appear in ads for Teleflora. Hill is a fitting choice, as she already has a connection to football. For the past few years she's been the voice behind the NFL's "Sunday Night Football" theme song.
As the female Super Bowl viewing population continues to increase, advertisers are catering to that demographic with the use of celebrity women like those mentioned above. The ladies have the strong, confident personalities that female fans will love, yet they still possess the sex appeal that will crossover to the male population.
Super Bowl XLV will take place on February 6th.
