Out of the 5.9 million + brackets entered in the ESPN Tournament Challenge, two people (yes, TWO) got the entire Final Four correct. March Madness indeed. And one of the biggest bracket busters took place when #1 seeded Kansas was knocked out by #11 seed, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Some thought the team didn’t belong in the tournament and some hadn’t even heard of VCU or Coach Shaka Smart. Well that has certainly changed.
According to CNBC reporter, Darren Rovell, VCUAthletics.com, which averaged 12,000 hits a day, received more than 100,000 hits on the day of their big win. VCU has been taking full advantage of their underdog status and their time in the college basketball spotlight. The team is celebrating their victory and our pain with these awesome new “There Goes My Bracket!” t-shirts. A fashion that fits for millions of us.
The VCU Rams will take on the Butler Bulldogs on April 2nd, at 6:09 p.m. E.S.T. in a Final Four match-up. Be sure to tune in.
