Dolce & Gabbana have been at the forefront of blending the worlds of fashion and sports. The luxury Italian designers have lent their style sense to a variety of sports teams and athletes, especially in the game of soccer. They dress the A.C. Milan and Chelsea teams, as well as the Italian national team. They also named Barcelona and Argentina forward, Lionel Messi, as a brand ambassador.

Most recently, the design duo hosted a party for A.C. Milan to celebrate their 18th national championship and launch a new book titled “Milan Fashion Soccer Players Portraits.” The book features black and white portraits of the players, photographed by Marco Falcetta. The project benefits Fondazione Milan, a non-profit organization to promote social wellbeing in depressed areas.

“Soccer players have a great relationship with fashion, a strong personal style and care about their bodies. They really represent the male aesthetic and our times,” mused Gabbana.

The guys even played the role of stylist, helping to choose the Dolce Collection pieces worn in the book. While some covered up with sleek suits and sharp shirts, others left very little to the imagination.

“We’re used to being photographed on the pitch but this was my first fashion shoot, a different and very enjoyable experience,” said Brazilian striker Robson de Souza or Robinho.
