Nike often introduces special swag for their athletes before each golf tournament and now the brand has unveiled limited edition Lunar Control shoes for the U.S. Open. Just like the Lunar Control kicks released for the Masters earlier this year, Nike golfers including Lucas Glover, Charl Scwartzel and Paul Casey will be rocking the latest version of the shoes when they hit the course for the upcoming major.

The brand debuted the revolutionary new golf shoe at the start of 2011 after collaborating with Nike athlete Paul Casey in the development of the Lunar Control. “Paul is extremely savvy about footwear,” said Doug Reed, Global Category Business Director for Apparel, Footwear and Accessories. “He not only knows what he wants in performance golf shoes, but he also has a keen eye for design and color which made him a perfect muse for the Lunar Control.

The resulting shoes features a saddle design fused with innovative materials and construction technologies found in Nike running sneakers. Among those technologies are Nike’s Lunarlon Foam and Nike Flywire. The shoes designed specifically for the U.S. Open feature a black and white colorway with bold pops of red on the sole and throughout the interior.

The shoe will be available at nikestore.com beginning on Monday, June 13th, the week of the U.S. Open.

The presentation and packaging of the shoes is just as aesthetically pleasing as their design. The box’s translucent, plexiglass lid features a Nike slogan that reads: “To the most prepared go major results.” Within the box, the custom kicks can be found inside a gray, embroidered shoe bag with the tournament dates “June 16-19 2011″ included above an American flag.
