This is the last General Theory of Purdue Suckitude post I'm going to do. But sweet merciful pancakes, how do you turn the ball over seven times in 16 minutes of play? I mean, I know how. You pass the ball directly to your opponents, travel on the next possession, etc. Still...how? Ashley Wilson was a lone bright spot for the embarrassed Boilers yet again, and Guyton shot well, but both of them need to be encouraged to shoot more. Especially Wilson, who can actually get to the hoop when she tries. This is the point where the steady hand of a coach to is necessary to reassure a young team that this isn't the end of the world. Unfortunately, the wheels seem to have come off in that department. It was pretty clear that Versyp made the team more nervous yesterday, and the fact that she's now going to punish this shell-shocked bunch by having them practice without Purdue gear is not a good sign. This was not one of those amorphous issues of 'heart' or some nonsense as she expressed it. The team is not good. They know it. Quite frankly right now the coaching staff needs to stop talking about the scoreboard entirely, and start talking about incremental improvement in basic skills of the game, as well as learning to enjoy basketball again.
