That's not even including the WPS All-Star game, which I DVR'ed but haven't watched yet.

*Over on the men's side, Carl Edwards capped a final lap of extraordinary driving by forcing Marcus Ambrose into a mistake on the last turn and winning at Montreal's road course in the Nationwide series. The world's most electrifying athlete, Usain Bolt, came from well behind in the final lap of the 4x100 at Zurich to win by a toe.

*South Korean rookie M.J. Hur, sure to be the launcher of a hundred 'who's on first' style routines, took advantage of two bogie-filled holes by Suzanne Pettersen to take the lead, then Pettersen and Redman forced a three-way playoff before Hur finally triumphed on the second playoff hole for her first victory. Michelle Wie continued her run of great play with a final round 66 to finish fourth. I also became convinced that it was Judy Rankin and not Dottie Pepper who was consistently annoying about Christina Kim during the Solheim Cup.

*Elaine Youngs and Nicole Branagh ended the AVP Tour regular season by defeating Kesey and Ross in a seesaw affair that went the distance, with a service error in the third set finally swinging the momentum. YThe team certainly took advantage of May-Treanor's injury to prove their mettle this season, and they continue a refreshing uniqueness on-court. Youngs seems ever more like a crusty pro golfer who somehow happened to develop elite volleyball skills (and she majored in history at UCLA, so there's a decent chance she's also smart), and Branagh could be at home in a sport like basketball.

*Two female track and field stars, Sanya Richards and Yelena Isinbayeva, remain in the race for the one million dollar Golden League Jackpot prize with one meet left to go in Brussels. Isinbayeva bounced back from her stunning 'no height' in Berlin to set another pole vault world record in Zurich. Distance runner Kenenisa Bekeley is also eligible for the prize, which is awarded to any athletes who record a win at all six Golden League meets.

*The WNBA's top teams drew within a half game of each other (OK, this happened on Saturday, but still), with Indiana's deflating last-minute home loss to a scrappy, physical Sacramento team and Phoenix's win. The battle for home-court advantage throughout the playoffs will go down to the last few contests.
