Huskies2.jpgWashington point guard Jazmine Davis was named Pac-12 Freshmen of the Year by the league's coaches. She's the first Husky to be honored for the award since post Karen Deden in 1988.

Davis, who was honored by the conference media on Monday, was also named to the 15-member All-Pac-12 team along with senior C Regina Rogers. It's the first nod for Rogers while Davis joins a short list of 14 freshmen to be named to the team such as Lisa Leslie (1990-91), Candice Wiggins (2004-05) and Chiney Ogwumike last season.

A San Jose, Calif. native, Davis was also an All-Pac-12 Freshmen team selection. Senior F Charmaine Barlow was a All-Pac-12 Defensive team honorable mention while USC guard Ashley Corral (Prairie HS) was named to the All-Pac-12 team for the third time in her career.

For the other awards, Stanford senior Nnemkadi Ogwumike was named Pac-12 Player of the Year for the second time in her career while her younger sister was named Defensive Player of the Year. Hall of Famer Tara VanDerveer was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year for the 12th time in her 26 seasons at Stanford.

Left with a freshmen-laden squad after injuries to key players, VanDerveer was still able to coach the Cardinal to a third-consecutive undefeated season and No. 2 ranking in the country.

Pac-12 teams are currently in Los Angeles preparing for the conference tournament. UW opens against Oregon at noon on Wednesday at USC's Galen Center. For the complete list of awards, please click here.
