Huskies2.jpgFormer Hazen High PG Airashay Rogers will not be enrolling at Washington this season because she didn't academically qualify. The school confirmed her status.

Rogers is signed to play at Bellevue College this season on a full scholarship. BC has four-year programs, but is a two-year accredited school athletically. If Rogers raises her GPA, she can transfer back to UW.

Bulldogs coach Brent Hermanson said initially Rogers was upset at not attending UW this season, but has perked up about her possibilities during the past two weeks of getting her enrolled at BC. She's one of 11 in-coming recruits and definitely the top prospect.

"It's not very often that we get a Division I (player), especially Pac-12 caliber athlete in our conference," said Hermanson, whose team competes in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. "Clearly she's going to play a huge role for us, particularly since she's a point guard. Hopefully she'll help lead the team. She's a tremendous athlete and we feel very fortunate to have her.

"We're working with her to make sure she gets everything transferred over from UW. And we'll help her make sure she gets back there, if that's what she chooses...The Division I dream is still alive."
