Minnesota Lynx cut former Kentwood star Lindsey Moore

G Lindsey Moore was cut by Minnesota on Tuesday. Moore was selected in the first round (12th overall) of the 2013 WNBA draft, playing behind Olympic PG Lindsay Whalen in the Lynx rotation.

Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve expressed during training camp she had higher expectations for Moore this season. Although playing different positions, Moore was outplayed in the depth chart by rookie F Tricia Liston. Moore has only appeared in one minute of the team's past three games due to the coach's decision. Moore is only averaging 8.5 minutes in 12 games this season.

In Liston's past five games, she's averaged 4.8 points in 12.4 minutes as Reeve runs different rotations to find an offensive kick. The team is 3-2 during the stretch.

The defending champions next play a home-and-home series against Seattle. The Lynx (11-4) play at KeyArena on Friday.

In 35 games total, Moore has career averages of 1.0 points, 1.1 assists in an averaged 6.6 minutes. Her slot on a WNBA roster had a unique twist in Kentwood HS having two players in the WNBA. Moore played with Chicago All-Star Courtney Vandersloot but won state titles after Vandersloot graduated and moved on to star at Gonzaga.

While Vandersloot starts for the Sky, so far Moore's most memorable contribution are podcast interviews with Lynx teammates. Moore conducted five this season, the most recent with rookie Asia Taylor.

After cutting Moore, Minnesota signed G Nadirah McKenith.

“We are excited to welcome Nadirah to the Minnesota Lynx organization,” said Roger Griffith, the team's executive vice president, in a released statement. “The energy and work ethic Nadirah brings to the table fits in perfectly with the team we have in place. Lindsey Moore has been a true professional and we wish her nothing but the best.”

McKenith appeared in 32 games for the Washington Mystics last season, averaging 2.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in an averaged 8.8 minutes. She was a second-round pick (17th overall) in the same 2013 draft as Moore.
