It was an epic November matchup. No. 1 Connecticut (2-0) battled No. 2 Baylor (3-1) like a national championship was on the line. Yet, the only rights to be won would have been by Baylor as the team to stop UConn's impressive win streak.

Instead, the Bears couldn't get a last-second shot off in time and lost 65-64 at the XL Center in Hartford. Senior Maya Moore led the Huskies with 30 points, seven rebounds and six assists while sophomore Brittney Griner led her team with 19 points, nine blocks and seven boards.

Both players, pictured here by the Associated Press, seemed to be the sole options for their teams. But as far as shaking the myth that women's basketball is boring because UConn wins all the time? The Huskies having a freshman-laden squad with weaknesses could mean more challenging games like Tuesday.

Outside of the game, people will be talking about Baylor coach Kim Mulkey's attire. It's juvenile, maybe even a little sexist. But then again, you must not have seen the reptile pants paired with the gold blazer.

The wardrobe decision and using her final timeout before the final two minutes of the tightly contested game are two things Mulkey will be kicking herself about this week.

"I thought we played great for long stretches. Obviously Baylor is a great team and they made their run," Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma said. "Then the improbable happened, people other than Maya began scoring."

ESPN compiled a graphic of UConn's upcoming games to guess when the Huskies' streak would end. Commentator Kara Lawson, who plays for the Connecticut Sun, has it at 90-consecutive wins, ending at Stanford on Dec. 30.

Given how Griner, a 6-foot-8 center, gave the Huskies' youthful post players fits, fouling two out, my guess is UCLA legendary coach John Wooden keeps his 88-win streak and No. 7 Ohio State gets UConn on Dec. 19. The Buckeyes have an impressive post in senior Jantel Lavender, a 6-4 center.

WASHINGTON UPDATE: As for the local Huskies, Washington senior PG Sarah Morton did not practice Tuesday. She is suffering from a sprained left ankle, wearing a protective boot.
