Save the Date: Adia Barnes to host fundraiser in March

Jayda Evans covers college and pro women's basketball. While its her first year on the Washington beat, she has covered the Storm since its inception. She'll offer observations, critiques, occasional off-beat tales and answers to select e-mail inquires. Evans also has written a book on the Storm and women's hoops, called "Game On!"

Adia.jpgAdia Barnes. who helped Seattle win its 2004 WNBA championship, is hosting a fundraiser breakfast for her namesake foundation. The current Storm color analyst works in the community to offer positive role models and create educational and athletic opportunities.

The "Fundraiser Breakfast for the Adia Barnes Foundation" will be March 10 at Portage Bay Cafe on South Lake Union from 7-9 a.m. Supporters can enjoy breakfast with Barnes and friends. Portage Bay will donate all the proceeds to the foundation. Those proceeds will go toward scholarships for upcoming camps, free inner city youth clinics and more, according to Barnes.

Barnes plans to host her inaugural camp at Seattle Academy on June 27-30. It's a youth basketball camp for athletes ages 8-13. Her "She's Got Game Camp" is for girls ages 14-18. You can learn more here.

Storm stars Sue Bird, Camille Little, Lauren Jackson, and Sonics legend Shawn Kemp plan to be special guests for the camps.
