To the surprising chagrin of senior PG Courtney Vandersloot, Gonzaga University canceled classes on Thursday. But Vandersloot's team will still host Saint Mary's at 6 p.m. at McCarthey Athletic Center.

The matchup is a highly anticipated bout between the top two teams in the West Coast Conference, although the No. 23 Zags (24-4, 12-0 WCC) clinched the regular-season title last week.

Snow blanketed the state this week, but the Gaels (17-10, 9-3) arrived safely on Wednesday. Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said the school's grounds crew has been working to clear the parking lots at MAC. Roth is hopeful arterial roads leading to Gonzaga will be clear and passable in time for fans to make the game.

"The game will be played as scheduled," Roth said in a press release. "Both teams are ready to go, so we have the basics needed to play the game. Naturally, we hope our fans will be able to make it to the McCarthey Athletic Center, but we encourage them to travel safely."
