Run Girl Run is a blog that covers just about every aspect of health and fitness. While the primary focus is on my trials and tribulations training for various races, I also talk about my favorite types of exercises, experiences from my yoga instructor days and all kinds of nutrition stuff, with the occasional product review sprinkled in. Follow me as I overcome injury, try to balance a social life and beat back laziness to tackle the marathon, half marathon, 5K and every distance in between.

The Frederick Half Marathon is only five days away, which means I'm officially in taper mode and busy working out the last minute details in my race plans.

With several half marathons under my belt, my plan for the most part doesn't change too much from race to race:

  • I eat a PBJ on the way to the race
  • Use the porta-potties three times
  • Take a Gu once every four-ish miles
  • Carry my own Gatorade

The only thing that really changes is what I wear.

Everyone knows you're not supposed to try anything new on race day, so the past few weeks I've been experimenting with different outfits to nail down exactly what I want to wear on race morning.

I've narrowed down my choices considerably based on the weather and how different outfits performed on runs. I've got about two or three choices I'm still kicking around, and I plan to use all of them during taper runs this week to hopefully help me make a final decision.

At this point though, I'm pretty much ready to race. That nervous/excited pre-race feeling is kicking in and I'm ready for it to be race morning. Here's hoping this week flies by.
