The Rip Curl USA crew headed down to San Onofre State Beach on Friday, June 18th to celebrate Rip Curl Planet Day. One of Rip Curl’s key values is actively contributing to our local communities, especially with respect to maintaining the local environment.

Armed with trash bags and medical gloves, the group extricated cigarette butts, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and other bits of refuse from the coast. “We’re here trying to make the world a better place, one piece of trash at a time,” said Rip Curl Sales Manager, Paul Harvey.

“Rip Curl Planet Day, organic cotton, and clean beaches!” proclaimed Justin Bernier, pointing to his newly minted organic cotton Rip Curl Planet tee. Bernier was a man on a cleaning mission, trekking from Old Man’s on the south end of the beach all the way up the coast nearly to Trestles before heading back to home base.

“I think its great we can all get out of the office for a day, give back to the community and help out and at the same time have a good time,” noted Cullen Mack as he scoured the sand for cigarette butts.

After the bags were loaded and properly disposed of and the beach was back to its pristine state, Damian “Damo” Mulholland fired up the grill with hot dogs, burgers, and veggie patties while the rest of the crew hit the fun-sized surf on longboards and stand up paddle boards. The sun crept towards the horizon as the crew wrapped up another successful Rip Curl Planet Day and headed home surfed-out, full of bbq, and stamped with a sunny glow!
