Brand Ambassador, Cynthia Aguilar attempts solo paddle from Cuba to Key West

On Saturday September 11th, Ocean Minded Brand Ambassador, Cynthia Aguilar, 26, will attempt a one hundred and thirty mile solo paddle board crossing from Cuba to Key West, Florida. Aguilar is pursuing this open ocean paddle to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and her non-profit organization Keep Paddlin’, Inc.

“I’ve been having some reality checks over the past couple days, but I’d say that I’m really confident” Aguilar stated. “It’s game time for me. I’m in my zone, and I’m feeling really good about this. I’m ready to go.” After training for over eight months, Aguilar anticipates completing the paddle in 36 hours, which will establish a new Guinness World Record for ‘Distance in Paddle Boarding’.

Over the course of her paddle across the Atlantic’s deepest waters in the Gulf Stream, a crew will be filming a feature length documentary titled Dream Big: Inside All of Us Lives Hope. Through this paddle and documentary, Aguilar is hoping to raise awareness for local and national non-profit organizations and the sport of paddle boarding.

“I’m trying to give the kids hope, but I’m also trying to inspire as many people as possible” Aguilar says. “I’m hoping that everyone who hears about this will be driven to make an impact and have hope that they can do something, even something little, that will make a big difference for someone else.”

Through donations prior to and during her paddle, Aguilar plans to raise enough funds to grant over twenty wishes with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For more information on Aguilar’s journey and how to donate, visit keeppaddlin.org
