It took me 4 years of hard work, multiple (and I mean MULTIPLE) change-of-major request forms, and 2 different bicycles, but I finally did it. I finally graduated college! I am officially a UC Davis alum. Soooo…now what?
For the past 4 years as a student-athlete, I was able to go to class straight from practice, rocking a t-shirt and sweatpants, without even thinking twice about it. I didn’t have to worry about wearing an ounce of makeup during a normal weekday and going to practice every day made avoiding that ‘Freshman 15’ easier than trying to limit my chocolate chip cookie intake.
Fast forward four years and some odd weeks and here I am, a college graduate as of one week ago, and now I have to figure out how to be a grown-up. With a grown-up job. And a grown-up schedule. And grown-up outfits. I mean, for goodness sakes, I bought a blazer the other day! No longer am I the student studying for midterms anymore, or the athlete competing at meets every weekend. Nope, now I am a grown-up. A big-kid. Instead of sitting in lecture, I will now be sitting in an office. Rather than studying for a final, I will be prepping for a meeting. When I would have normally gone to practice, I will now have…free time? Oh man, this transition is going to be much harder than I thought. Stay tuned for the future while I try to maneuver my way through this new chapter in my life. Welcome to my quarter life crisis.
