Hi, everyone. My name is Rebecca, one of the newest bloggers on Women Talk Sports. I am excited to join this network and talk about everything related to women and sports.
Before I get started, I wanted to let everyone a little bit about myself, so you guys know where I’m coming from:
-- I am a senior at the State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo where I am pursuing a degree in communication.
-- I hope to become a journalist someday. I’ve held various internships, most recently at The Kansas City Star, in addition to leadership positions at Geneseo's student media, The Lamron and WGSU-FM.
-- I am an alumna of the Sports Journalism Institute, which aims to increase diversity in newsrooms across the nation.
-- I played softball for 15 years, including one year at the collegiate level.
-- Odds and ends: I am addicted to coffee. I love new notepads. I prefer adventure over routine.
I hope to bring something new and fresh to WTS that will stimulate discussion among us! Instead of focusing on one theme, sport or region, I’ll be addressing a variety of topics in this blog. I’m beginning with a series of posts on research I found during my internship with The Star. Check back later this week.
