For Ford, the US downhill national victory comes off of a seven-day series of NorAm races in Aspen, CO. Ford claimed gold in two NorAm Super G and two NorAm downhill races moving her within one point of teammate, Abby Ghent, for the Overall NorAm lead. Winning the Overall NorAm title secures the racer a World Cup spot for all disciplines in the 2012-2013 season. The Overall title will be determined at the NorAm Finals March 17 – 24.

“Every day I go out and try to ski my best. To win against some of the best skiers in North America is a great feeling. It’s humbling but exciting all at the same time,” said Ford, “Aspen offers a little of everything…it just seems to suit the way I ski. If you win once, you want to win again.” This season is Ford’s first on the World Cup circuit. In early January she earned her first World Cup points in the Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria  Super G finishing 25th. Ford recently returned to the US to compete in the NorAm series with the top skier in North America. “It’s been a really good year getting more experience on different hills and at different levels of competition,” continued Ford. “My confidence has built up quite a bit because of that. I just feel really good when I’m in the start gate and on the course and that’s a big part of it.” Ford will finish off her season at the The Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships in Winter Park Resort March 28-April 1.
