Costa Mesa, CA (July 31, 2012): Rip Curl teamrider, Alana Blanchard, sent a statement this past weekend that she has every intention of re-qualifying for the ASP Women’s World Tour by taking 2nd place at the 6-Star Movistar Women’s Pro presented by Rip Curl.

The event was held in highly contestable 2-3′ surf in Lobitos, Peru. Alana, who was narrowly defeated by Bianca Buitendag, surfed confident and polished through the entire event. With the result, Alana skyrockets to #10 on the ASP Women’s World Ranking with a great shot at re-qualification.

“This was such a fun contest and I’m thankful for making it to the Finals,” said Alana. “This was my best result so far this season and I hope this event remains on the calendar for years because the waves are spectacular and it was a great experience for all of the surfers that participated in the contest.”

Congratulations to Alana, and best of luck for the remainder of the year.
