Next year’s NBA All-Star game might want to replace the slam dunk contest with the half-court shot while doing a front flip.

If that happens, the NBA should invite cheerleader Ashlee Arnau to show them how it is done.

Arnau, 21, a cheerleader at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss., made the incredible shot at halftime of her school’s game against Auburn-Montgomery.

The ball was placed on the floor at midcourt. Arnau approached it with a running start, did a front-flip, grabbing the ball while she was upside down, and then launching it toward the basket while her legs swung forward.

Swish! Try that, LeBron!

The  junior also plays soccer and runs track for William Carey, which competes in NAIA. The Oak Grove High School graduate said the front-flip shot was a takeoff on the front-flip throw-in that soccer players do.

The shot has been recognized as the “top play” in ESPN’s countdown of the day’s top plays on SportsCenter and has immediately become an interet sensation.

One caveat: She has tried to make the shot at halftime of every home game since Christmas. Of course, making it on your 20th attempt is no less impressive than making it on your first.

You can watch a video of the shot here.
