Inspired by her own setbacks, U.S. Olympic Ski Legend Picabo Street is teaming up with the Stay on the Slopes Initiative to help prevent and treat skiing and snowboarding injuries by providing funds for testing equipment, exercise machines and other technology.
Picabo (who was allowed to choose her own name when she was three) grew up in Idaho a free spirit. Her life, which reads like a Hollywood movie, is about transforming from a rebellious teen into a world-class athlete.
While it’s definitely better to avoid setbacks than be forced to overcome them, sometimes setbacks are inevitable. Picabo knows better than anyone; she came back from a possible career-ending crash and serious knee injury to win a gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics.
Citi® Every Step of the Way® program is Picabo’s way of giving back to the sport she loves. Nine U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Nine programs in need and a $500,000 donation from Citi. You help decide where the money goes with just a click. View all the participating athletes’ inspiring stories and help award Citi’s donation to your favorite program. Pretty Good!
