HeidiFry1Sport: Duathlon
Home: Bozeman, Montana
Birthdate: 8/21/78

Competition Highlights: 2009 Governor’s Cup 10k, 2nd woman and 9th overall; 2009 Duathlon National Championships, Women 30-34, 5th; 2009 Big Sky State Games 5k, 1st woman overall; 2009 Reach Run for Independance 10k, 2nd woman and 5th overall; Run to the Pub 10k, 1st woman overall; 2009 Desert Classic Duathlon, Women 30-34, 4th.
Other Sports/Accomplishments: I qualified for the 2002 US Duathlon Team but had our daughter instead, 7 years later I qualified again.

Favorite Athletes: Don’t have favorites but definitely some I am inspired by…Kara Goucher, Lisbeth Kenyon, Paula Radcliffe, Nikki Kimbal and most of all my Dad who is an incredible XTERRA circuit triathlete.
Favorite College Team: Montana State…Go CATS
Favorite Pro Team: As of this year it will be the Montreal Canadiens (I went to high school with Scott Gomez).
Favorite Sports Drink: Hammer Heed
Favorite Workout Music: Country
Favorite Place to Shop: Athleta, Murdochs Ranch and Home Supply and Nordstrom when I am near one.
Hobbies and Interests: Paper art, scrapbooking (when I have time), riding my Harley-Davidson, riding our horses and I LOVE to cook.
Superstition: I have to crumple my race number before wearing it, I jump up and down three times at a starting line and always warm up in lane 5.

Best Moment: I have them every day, but athletics wise, I am hoping it is yet to come. My college team won the Big Sky Conference indoor track title and that was most definitely a proud moment.
Dream Job: I have it, being a mom is the most rewarding job I could ever ask for. I wouldn’t mind being a pro runner oh, and I do have a hidden desire to be a farm wife though (probably why I keep adding animals to our family!)
Favorite Books/TV Shows: Once a Runner is unbeatable. I love anything by Tracie Petersen and Debbie Macomber as well. TV Shows vary by whatever sitcom I am watching on Netflix while riding my bike on my indoor trainer! Lately it is Brothers and Sisters.
Pet Peeves: Dishonesty and excuses.. I am a doer not a talker.

What has been your biggest accomplishment: So far it is has been being able to balance being a wife, mother of 2, girl scout leader, childrens church teacher, artist, friend and athlete. I dream big dreams and have big goals!

What advice would you give to up and coming female athletes? Be patient with your training. Excellence takes a long time to achieve. Believe, believe, believe and do not be afraid to fail, just get out there and try again. All of us fail at one time or another, it is what makes you a strong and beautiful woman.
