Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week is here.Though the runways aren’t open to the public there are plenty of ways to check out the catwalks.
Many designers are giving the public front-row seats (or at least front-of-the-computer seats). Isaac Mizrahi will live-stream his show next Thursday at noon on his website, isaacmizrahi.com. And video company Zeitbyte is streaming Lincoln Center’s 88 shows and Milk Studios’ 18 shows at three sites – fashion atlincolncenter.com, milkmade.com and firstcomesfashion.com. They’ll be accessible on computer, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry and Android handsets.
If you’re on Twitter, you can follow hashtag #NYFW for insider posts and photos.
Nearly 250,000 people will stream in and out of the tents through next Thursday. Among them will be tons of athletes, who have become Fashion Week’s biggest celebs. Crane your neck to check out Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire, who’s rumored to be attending several shows.
Also likely to get a runway-side seat at upcoming shows are tennis players taking a break from the U.S. Open: fashion lover Serena Williams, Anna Wintour BFF Roger Federer and Russian stars Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova.
Gymnast Nastia Liukin is also a frequent Fashion Week guest and a huge fan of Max Azria.
Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bündchen and Adriana Lima are just a few of the models set to strut the hottest fall fashions.
One of the shows we’re most looking forward to is the debut of Cynthia Rowley’s new collection on Sat. Rowley is a designer who always creates garments that are a bit pretty and tough.
In honor of fashion week, thousands of stores around the world will stay open late tonight, Fri. Sept. 10th, for the single largest shopping event of the year, the second annual Fashion’s Night Out.
For all of the sports-loving fashionistas out there, A Glam Slam has put together a guide to the ‘sporty’ NYC shops partaking in the festivities including adidas, Burton, lululemon and Roxy.
