Eight matches were played over Friday and Saturday to determine who would move on in the NCAA Women’s Soccer playoffs. And now Eight teams are closer to reaching the College Cup, which will take place in Cary, North Carolina on December 5.

Oklahoma State, who reached the Sweet 16 round for the first time in program history, has also reached the Elite 8 for the first time after defeating Duke 2-0 (this would be considered an upset). Meagan Marchesano scored the first goal for Oklahoma St. in the 37th minute on a shot from 15 yards out that went right to the top corner of the goal. In the 62nd minute, Krista Lopez finished off a cross from Kristen Lopez to make it 2-0 and seal the win for the Cowgirls.

On the other side of the bracket, Boston College dominated West Virginia with a 4-0 win. The first goal of the match came when Brooke Knowlton received a pass from Kristen Mewis and then converted her shot into a goal in the 22nd minute. About ten minutes later, Kristen Mewis set up the second goal for the Eagles. This time it was Julia Bouschelle at the end of it. In the second half, Knowlton scored her second goal of the night on a shot to the roof of the net. Natalie Crutchfield was credited with the assist. With 6 minutes left on the clock after Gibby Wagner set Victoria DiMartino up for the fourth goal of the game.

Over in Northern California, UCLA had a chance to get back at Stanford, but that didn’t happen. Stanford came out on top again against the Bruins with a 3-0 win. The first goal came in the fifth minute when a ball from Mariah Nogueira deflected of UCLA defender Elise Britt’s head. Christen Press made it 2-0 in the 29th minute when she got around two defenders and blasted a shot past Chante Sandiford to the inside of the far post. After receiving a pass from Teresa Noyola, Press scored the final goal in the 60th minute on a shot from the top of the penalty area.

Samantha Baker scored a goal off a corner kick with 44 seconds left in regulation to send Georgetown into the Elite 8 while defeating Minnesota.

The Ohio State Buckeyes, No. 3rd, edged No. 2 seed Virginia 3-2. The first goal came in the second minute of play thanks to Tiffany Cameron. Int he 26th minute, three Buckeyes connected to score the second goal. Lauren Steuer flicked Courtney Jenkins’ corner kick to Danica Wu, who got her shot into the goal from inside the six-yard box. Steuer gave the Buckeyes a 3-0 lead after converting Lauren Granberg’s original shot into a goal off the rebound. Six minutes later, Sinead Farelly scored on a header to make it 3-1. Gloria Douglas then cut Ohio State’s lead to just one goal with 9 minutes left. After a close chance, Colleen Flanagan almost tied the game but her shot went just wide right and the Buckeyes were able to hang on to the victory.

Florida State defeated Marquette by a score of 3-0. Kassey Kallman sent a pass to Rachel Lim who sent her shot into the goal in the 8th minute. In the 54th minute, Toni Pressley started the play that led to the second goal for the Seminoles. She sent the ball across the field to Tori Huster who headed the ball to Ella Stephan who headed it home to make it 2-0. Breezy Hupp scored the final goal of the match after finishing off a pass from Ines Juarena in the 83rd minute.

In Southern California, Washington’s Sarah Martinez fed the ball to Allie Beahan who scored the overtime goal that ended UC Irvine’s strong run in the tournament. The goal was scored in the 103rd minute.

And finally, there will be a new champion this year as UNC fell to Notre Dame by a score of 4-1. After Hannah Daly dropped Jessica Schuveiller’s free kick, Rose Augustin was at the right spot to clean up the mess and make it 1-0 Notre Dame in the 13rd minute. UNC responded with a goal six minutes later as Ranee Premji assisted Crystal Dunn’s goal. In the 33rd minute, Augustin’s corner kick created a scramble in the box in which Schuveiller was able to toe-poke the ball into the goal. Four minutes into the second half, Amber Brooks fouled Augustin near the half line of the field. The free kick was sent all the way to the penalty area where Melissa Henderson headed the ball with her back to the goal to make it 3-1. Ellen Jantsch then scored the final goal in the 77th minute after finished a Henderson cross in front of the goal.

Ohio State will kick thinks off on Friday Nov. 26 against Georgetown at 5 pm ET.

Oklahoma State will then host Notre Dame at 8 pm ET before Florida State takes on Stanford at 10 pm ET.

The last game of the Elite 8 round will be on Saturday Nov. 27 as Boston hosts Washington at 4 pm ET.
