All countries found out who they will be playing in Germany next summer. The World Cup Draw took place in Frankfurt, Germany. Here are the results:

Group A:

  1. Germany
  2. Canada
  3. Nigeria
  4. France

Group B:

  1. Japan
  2. New Zealand
  3. Mexico
  4. England

Group C:

  1. USA
  2. Korea DPR
  3. Colombia
  4. Sweden

Group D

  1. Brazil
  2. Australia
  3. Norway
  4. Equatorial Guinea

Group A is already being called the group of death. Germany is the favorite to win the World Cup. Canada are the CONCACAF champions. Nigeria is the CAF champion. And France is a really good team. Germany and Canada should be getting out of the group stage, but it will be a tight race to the knock out stage.

In Group B, Japan lost in the AFC championship match. Mexico defeated the USA in the CONCACAF semi final, and have been getting better and better each year. New Zealand is also a good team. They were the only team out of OFC defeating Papua New Guinea 11-0 in the final. England, of course, is one of the better teams in the world. Expect Japan and England to get out of their group.

Group C consists of the USA who almost did not qualify for the World Cup. Korea DPR is again in the same group as the USA, and it won’t be an easy win for either team (in China 2007, they tied 2-2). Colombia is in the World Cup for the first time, so they have that against them. Sweden also has a good team with quality players. The USA and Sweden are my picks to get out of their group.

Lastly, Group D is probably the easiest Group. Brazil, the CONMEBOL champion shouldn’t have a hard time against Australia or Equatorial Guinea. Norway is another strong team. Australia could be the surprise in this group, but I say Brazil and Norway go on to the quarter finals.

Feel free to disagree.

Don’t forget tickets are still being sold. The World Cup will be from June 26 to July 17 next year.
