INTENTION: The What, The How, & The Why

The WHAT?
What is an intention??

Intention is defined as having a plan, to direct the mind, to take aim. Without intention, we stray. Think of intention as a tool. I believe you can direct the forces of the universe with your intention. Your intention can help the universe re-align to make even the most impossible, possible. All you have to do is ask.

The HOW?
How do you set an intention?

Everyday life surrounds us in a swirl or chaos.  It’s easy to fall into a cycle of reacting to everything
Instead of reacting...you have the ability to create the life that you want. Remind yourself - daily - of your intentions.
Here are a few questions to answer to help you create your intention:
  • What do you want to happen?
  • How do you want to feel?
  • Who do you want to be?
  • How do you want to show up?
You can write down a specific intention for each day. You can write an intention for the week, the month, or even the year. You could also simply create (or borrow) a daily intention that you read each day - that calms, centers, & grounds you.

The WHY?
Why should you set an intention?

Author Brene Brown sums it up perfectly, "Setting intentions is a power move.  It's how I bring clarity, meaning, and purpose to my day, my meetings, a conference call and even daily conversations.  Setting intentions helps you get clear on why you're doing something (clarity), why it's important to you (meaning) and how it moves you closer to your values (purpose)."

The SECRET?
What's the secret no one tells you?

Intend for everything to work out as it should. Then let go and allow opportunities and openings to come your way. Don't listen to the voice inside your head that says your constant vigilance is the only way to get things done. The secret is setting the intention and then detaching. Let go. Let life unfold.

Assignment
Take time to set an intention.
Write it down. Read it when you get up in the morning. Go back and read it at the end of the day.

  • What do you want to happen?
  • How do you want to feel?
  • Who do you want to be?
  • How do you want to show up?
