Kim Clijsters plans 2010 around her daughter Jada

2009 is not over yet but Kim Clijsters is planning her 2010 season already.

Clijsters will focus her 2010 schedule around daughter Jada, planning a limited program that will put family first and that will also be good to keep her injury-free.

One thing she will be focusing too is in playing all Grand Slam evetns.

Clijsters will not play many tournaments in 2010. She wants to play the four majors, four more mandatory events like Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Beijing, and a few tuneup tournaments.

“We have to see how it will work out as a family,” Clijsters said.

The US Open 2009 champion intends to give Jada a normal life away from the courts as much as possible.

“Things have to remain fun for Jada,” Clijsters said.

“A No. 1 ranking is not what I focus on,” she said. “It would be nice, but Grand Slams are the big thing.” she added.

During the press conference, Clijsters mention Justine Henin’s return to the Sony Ericsson tennis tour but it sounded like she had wished Justine remained in retirement.

“It doesn’t really matter all that much to me,” she said. “I’m sure she will produce great tennis.”

Having come back with such stunning success has already eased the pressure on Clijsters and she now exudes a carefree country girl demeanor again.

“I’m here to announce the end of my second career,” she told reporters at the opening of her press conference. “Just joking.”

While Henin immediately announced she planned to continue playing until 2012 to play the Olympic games, Clijsters is no making long term plans.

“I will take it season by season,” she said. “I’ll look at the family. I cannot say what I will be doing in 2012.”
