Multirace.com Triathlons and Duathlons

I've been racing duathlons for the past two years, and in 2011 I will be switching to mostly triathlon events. I find many of the races I participate in through the Multirace.com website. Although any of the the Multirace.com events can be done as individual races, there are three race series that triathletes and duathletes can participate in for the 2011 race season through Multirace.com. To qualify for the points series in any of the race series, you must compete in a minimum of 3 races in that race series.

Points Series Awards

In 2009, my husband and I both placed in the points series for the South Florida Duathlon Series. He won 4th place Male 50-54 and I won 1st place Female 45-49. The points series award is an additional award, on top of whatever award you win at each individual race.

In 2010 there were two Multirace.com points series for duathletes. I won 1st place Female 45-49 in the Publix Fitness Family Weekend race series, and I was 3rd place Female Masters in the Key Biscayne Trilogy points series. Pretty cool. :)

Mack Cycle Race Series

Also called the Mack Cycle Trilogy, which consists of 3 races plus a bonus round race. The races can be done as either a sprint distance duathlon, sprint distance triathlon, or an International distance triathlon.

Sprint duathlon

• 1 mile run
• 10 mile bike
• 3.1 mile run

Sprint triathlon

• .25 mile swim
• 10 mile bike
• 3.1 mile run

International triathlon

• .50 mile swim
• 20 mile bike
• 5.2 mile run

Mack Cycle Trilogy Race Dates

1. June 19 - Mack Cycle Trilogy #1
2. July 17 - Mack Cycle Trilogy #2
3. August 14 - Mack Cycle Trilogy #3
4. September 18 - Mack Cycle Trilogy Bonus Round

Broward Championship Race Series

The 5 Broward county races can be done as either a sprint distance triathlon or duathlon.

Sprint duathlon

• .5 mile run
• 10 mile bike
• 3.1 mile run

Sprint triathlon

• .25 mile swim
• 10 mile bike
• 3.1 mile run

1. April 3 - Multirace Spring Training - Tradewinds Park - Coconut Creek
2. April 23 - Egg Hunt - CB Smith Park - Pembroke Pines
3. July 4 - Independence Day - Tradewinds Park - Coconut Creek
4. September 4 - Labor Day Time Trial - Tradewinds Park - Coconut Creek
5. October 9 - Race the Troops - Tradewinds Park - Coconut Creek

Family Fitness Weekend Series

There are 6 races in this race series. Tri Miami and Siesta Key offer Olympic distance triathlons, in addition to the sprint triathlon that are available at all of the races. All races offer a sprint distance duathlon, except for Tri Miami, which only offers an Olympic distance race for duathletes.

1. May 15 - Tri Miami - Crandon Park - Key Biscayne
2. May 29 - Tradewinds - Tradewinds Park - Coconut Creek
3. June 11 - Tradition - Tradition Town Center - St. Lucie
4. July 23 - Siesta Beach - Siesta Key Beach - Sarasota
5. July 31 - Melbourne Beach - Spressard Holland Park - Melbourne Beach
6. August 20 - Battle at Fort Desoto - Fort Desoto Park - St. Petersburg

Additional Information

New for 2011, Multirace.com will have an end of year Championship race to crown the best triathletes in Florida! Winners in each category of the Multirace Championship event will receive a sublimated 2011 Multirace Champion jersey to commemorate their accomplishment for years to come. This race will take place on October 16, 2011 on Key Biscayne. Athletes must qualify to be able to participate in this race. Visit Multirace.com for additional information on the Championship race.
