So by now you undoubtedly know that there’s a women’s soccer tournament kicking off in Germany in just over a week’s time. You may have also noticed that there’s been nary a mention of said tournament here on AWK in recent weeks. There’s been a reason for that and, well, here it is…
The Equalizer and All White Kit have combined forces to bring you an 83-page 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup preview e-magazine. Over the past six months or so Jeff Kassouf (who you know from here and/or here), myself, and Lauren Barker have been hard at work on it. What began as a simple idea in Jeff’s head has resulted in a sizeable Women’s World Cup guide complete with detailed previews of each team, exclusive interviews with notable names, never-before-seen photos, features, and stats – lots of stats.
To be specific, here’s exactly what to expect:
The preview will be presented in a simple .PDF file which makes it easy to download, scroll through, and read.
Value is a difficult thing to quantify, particularly in a digital age. Asking people to fork over cash for something that essentially amounts to a labor of love is especially difficult. Jeff, myself, and our respective co-authors have become accustomed to the shilling/hustling/bartering/whatever that comes with the territory of doing this sort of thing.
With this being said, we feel there’s a certain value associated with this particular project, especially when extensive print coverage of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup – and women’s soccer in general – is so scarcely available. Perhaps you might agree.
That in mind, we’ve settled on an asking price of $5.95 for the e-magazine. We hope that’s a fair price for the amount of material that’s on offer.
While that’s slightly more expensive than a tangible magazine, our preview features 83 pages of solid content and zero advertising. It can be easily stored on your computer and re-visited when need be. It will also hopefully serve as more than a mere preview of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Rather, it might provide a snapshot of where the international women’s stands at this present moment. Perhaps you’ll find yourself returning to the preview before, during, and after the tournament.
Still not quite convinced? We’ll be happy to offer a 16-page complimentary preview of the magazine complete with Jeff’s previews of Japan and England, my previews of Colombia and Australia, full interviews with Becky Sauerbrunn and Shek Borkowski, a unique stadium guide, and several pages of World Cup statistics. Click here for the free download. If you like it and would like more, there’s about 65 more pages available for purchase.
If you’re interested in buying the full e-magazine itself for $5.95, here’s how: click here to be automatically directed to the page with shopping cart OR click the “WWC Guide E-Magazine” tab at the top of the home page. Then type in your name and email address. (Note: ignore the bit that says “Shipping Rate”. It’s an HTML glitch.)
After that, fill in your PayPal account information. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you should be able to log in as a guest and submit your credit/debit card payment information. At that point, you’ll receive a confirmation email followed by another email with a link back to the site you downloaded it from. It will also contain a code. Enter that into the box as directed and you’ll be able to download the .PDF file immediately after.
The Equalizer is working on getting their online store up and running. In the meantime, just use the links provided above.
For any technical questions, comments, concerns, feedback, et cetera, email us at [email protected].
We’d love you to join us in our effort to support both women’s soccer and independent media. We sincerely thank you for the continued backing and readership. We hope you enjoy the e-magazine. Here’s to a memorable World Cup.
Cheers.
