Round thirteen was a whole lot like round twelve for me. I ended up with a big points total, but there were a lot more people out there with bigger ones, meaning I’m down in a lowly 148th place for the season. Blech. My midfield was awful, with not a single player netting over 6.50 points, and Christine Sinclair and Lori Chalupny combining for one point total.

But still, I press on and am hoping to rekindle a little magic this round. It should be a lower scoring one, as everybody plays just a single match. Most of the matches have some doubt attached to them, though I suspect there will be a lot of people loading up with Seattle players as they face off against a woeful Washington side.

Round Fourteen Fantasy Team Rankings

1. SEA
2. FCKC
3. SBFC
4. POR
5. BOS
6. WNY
7. CHI
8. WSH

GK

Solo (SEA) – If you’re spending an allocated spot on a keeper, why wouldn’t you pick her?

Barnhart (FCKC) – Red Stars grind it out offense hasn’t been pretty but has been able to score, so be a little weary.

Cameron (SBFC) – Defense has been a bit of a roller coaster lately, and against red hot Leroux, could be in for a hard night, though she’s probably the best unallocated option.

LeBlanc (POR) – Road weary Flash side look ripe for the picking, but they still have Wambach, and Thorns defense hasn’t been much to write about anyway.

McLeod (CHI) – Enjoying some big rounds but tough matchup against Holiday led FC Kansas City.

Franch (WNY) – Big in first game of round, not so much in second. Facing under pressure Portland side on road and at end of brutal stretch doesn’t sound like a recipe for success.

Phillips (BOS) – Naeher out through injury with her broken nose, and up against the league leaders on the road, I’d avoid this situation anyway.

D

Mathias (FCKC) – Enjoy her last round as a defender, as last set of position changes happen after this weekend. Her or Jones will likely make way with Holiday back, but she’s worth the risk at a tough position to score points in.

Robinson (FCKC) – Rare misfire last round for fantasy juggernaut but has good matchup and almost always produces, so she’s a great option.

Goodson (SBFC) – Might not nab the clean sheet against volatile Boston offense but always a threat for shots on goal herself.

Taylor (WNY) – Bad matchup at the end of an exhausting stretch, but she’s a threat going forward, so worth consideration.

Reed (SEA) – I’d normally stay far, far away from Reign defenders, but hard to ignore plum matchup. Has been bad fantasy-wise thus far but matchup is nothing but upside.

Johnson (SBFC) – A bit erratic fantasy-wise, but Boston offense can sputter if Leroux goes missing.

Marshall (POR) – Hard to trust Thorns defense, but Flash have to be exhausted, so there’s potential here.

Sauerbrunn (FCKC) – I don’t recommend allocated defenders that much, but she’s consistent and has a decent matchup.

Foord (SBFC) – Up and down fantasy season but a solid alternative to Johnson/Rampone if you’re going for a lot of SBFC defenders.

Fuss (CHI) – Hard to figure out Red Star defenders fantasy-wise, but she’s the stable option.

Avant (BOS) – Doesn’t seem likely to budge after impressing early for Breakers and very dangerous going forward.

Rampone (SBFC) – Lots of possibility for downside against Leroux inspired offense, so be careful.

Williamson (POR) – If you’re selling out on Portland defenders, feel free to pick her up.

Sahlen (WNY) – Will probably have Rapinoe induced nightmares for weeks to come but has been fairly reliable offensively so far.

MF

Rapinoe (SEA) – More than living up to the hype thus far and could be in for a huge fantasy day.

Holiday (FCKC) – Different last name, but same game hopefully for fantasy owners who have ridden her to huge success. Hard to fathom dropping her at this point.

Nairn (SEA) – Spirit soft in the center, and she’s been pretty good all season, so use her without fear.

O’Reilly (BOS) – Deadly consistent for much of the season and could have room to exploit aggressive SBFC full-backs.

Fishlock (SEA) – Turning into a great option now that she doesn’t have to do all of the heavy lifting but beware bookings.

Schmidt (SBFC) – Back from suspension and probably eager to get back in the goals as leader of SBFC’s potent midfield.

Sinclair (POR) – Killed a lot of fantasy teams dead last round but Flash are wheezing at this point, so she’s got a shot.

Lloyd (WNY) – Six points in two games doesn’t exactly make the heart race, but Thorns aren’t great in midfield, so worth a shot.

Sanderson (BOS) – Cooled down significantly, but has an on-fire target in Leroux against a sometimes naive backline.

Tymrak (FCKC) – All but sealed a starting spot with great run of form but beware fewer touches with Holiday back.

Chalupny (CHI) – Bad round last week and probably won’t be much better this week against bermuda triangle in defensive midfield for FCKC.

Matheson (WSH) – Only player from Washington you should remotely consider, but there are better ways to spend your allocation slots in all likelihood.

Heath (POR) – Thorns have to be desperate to throw her right in the deep end, and you have to be too if you’re considering starting her right away.

Freels (SBFC) – A lot better in real life than in fantasy and probably going to draw some attention from Nogueira, so I’d stay away.

Nogueira (BOS) – Set piece threat probably not going to have huge impact if marked by towering Goodson.

Buczkowski (FCKC) – Shockingly relevant fantasy-wise with a decent performance or two on the points sheet but better options still available.

FW

De Vanna (SBFC) – Desperately needed with Ocampo and O’Hara out. Already torched Boston before and will be keen to help SBFC march towards the regular season title.

Leroux (BOS) – Hit SBFC with two goals the last time these two met and has been immolating teams as of late, so she’s a solid play.

Wambach (WNY) – May need to score early and often for Flash to claim three needed points, and Portland defense certainly pliable.

Morgan (POR) – Hasn’t scored in over a month but opposing defense is pliable, Thorns desperate, so she’s certainly worth considering.

McDonald (SEA) – Reign forwards not exactly a consistent bunch but has looked spry thus far and could be worth a go if you need allocation space elsewhere this round.

Cuellar (SEA) – Hasn’t done much since getting injured back with FCKC. If there’s ever a game to get right though, it’s this one…

Leon (CHI) – Already looks like a difference maker in attack but beware inconsistency.

Adams (SBFC) – Hard to trust. Very hard to trust. But SBFC doesn’t have many forward options other than De Vanna and her right now either.

Kerr (WNY) – Seems like she’s hit a wall in recent weeks. Thorns defense not exactly bulletproof though, so she’s a sleeper option.

Jones (FCKC) – Probably 50/50 as to whether she or Mathias makes way for Holiday, making it hard to pull the trigger on her in the lineup this round.

Masar (CHI) – Impressive off the bench and a decent bet to replace unproductive Dominguez, but matchup is difficult.

Weimer (POR) – Decent production but a strong candidate to get shuffled to the bench with Heath’s arrival.

Schoepfer (BOS) – Cooled down after some nice games earlier and facing a pretty tough matchup.
