Look, two consecutive posts not involving magicJack! Except for this first news item, of course.

  • If you haven’t done so already, check out Dan Borislow’s comments on Beau Dure’s Sports Myriad blog.

  • The Flash face the Breakers tonight in Rochester and both teams will enter the match with heavily depleted squads. Scroll down to Chris’ post below for the details. Follow along on Match Tracker.

  • The FSC TV game tomorrow will feature the Atlanta Beat and the Philadelphia Independence. The Independence look to collect two consecutive wins while the Beat will try to earn their first win since April 14. Word is that general admission tickets have been selling quite well so an attendance figure north of 4,000 seems could be expected. Atlanta has never defeated Philadelphia in the four times the two teams met last season. Philadelphia claimed two victories while the other two matches ended in draws.

  • You aren’t the only one who forgot. The USWNT wil; face Japan tomorrow at Columbus Crew Stadium. The match kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on FSC. Expect a preview tomorrow.

  • The USWNT’s new black kits may have gotten dereided from all corners but at least they’re eco-friendly. Each kit is made entirely from recycled polyester, produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles per jersey.

  • Here’s Japan’s roster:

GOALKEEPERS (2): 1-Miho Fukumoto (Okayama Yunogo Belle), 12-Ayumi Kaihori (INAC Kobe Leonessa)

DEFENDERS (5): 3-Azusa Iwashimizu (NTV Beleza), 4-Saki Kumagai (Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies), 5-Kyoko Yano (Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies), 7-Kozue Ando (FCR 2001 Duisburg, GER), 16-Maiko Nasu (INAC Kobe Leonessa)

MIDFIELDERS (8): 2-Yukari Kinga (INAC (Kobe Leonessa), 6-Mizuho Sakaguchi (Albirex Niigata Ladies), 8-Aya Miyama (Okayama Yunogo Belle), 10-Homare Sawa (INAC Kobe Leonessa), 13-Rumi Utsugi (Montpellier HSC, FRA), 14-Emi Nakajima (INAC Kobe Leonessa), 15-Aya Sameshima (TEPCO Laides FC Mareeze), 11 Nahomi Kawasumi (INAC Kobe Leonessa)

FORWARDS (5): 9-Shinobu Ohno (INAC Kobe Leonessa), 17-Yuki Nagasato (FFC Turbine Potsdam, GER), 18-Karina Maruyama (JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies), 19-Megumi Takase (INAC Kobe Leonessa), 20-Mana Iwabuchi (NTV Beleza)

  • The USWNT will also be auctioning off autographed game-worn jerseys from the match in an effort to benefit Japanese tsunami relief. Click here for more info.

  • Hope Solo revisits the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup incident in this Columbus Dispatch article.

  • According to ESPN’s Jeffrey Carlisle, Hope Solo blames the disappearance of her Twitter feed on a “technical glitch”.

  • There will be no 20 Questions post this week (apologies). If you have a suggestion for a WPS player you’d like to see interviewed or would just like to chat, feel free to get in touch at jennaawk [at] gmail.com. Suggestions would be very much appreciated!
