European MMA has come a long way since Rosi Sexton lead the way almost a decade ago. As a new crop of female fighters begin to put their names out there, Arid Films decided to follow a British up and coming fighter Michelle Tyler.

The movie, “Queens of the Cage”, won “Best Documentary Short” at the “Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood” this week. It follows Tyler from June to December 2010, as she trains for UCMMA’s first ever female fight.

Sexton appears in the documentary as well to talk about her career as a fighter.

Cage Queen’s Izzy Carnwath was a researcher and journalist on the project, with director Victoria Wood capturing Tyler’s journey from training camp to the cage.
