Wombat sports is dedicated to women in combat sports. It’s been several months in the making, but InvictaFC has announced what will be it’s initial all female card in Kansas City, MO Aprl. 28.
Besides the already announced main event between the #2 Unified ranked 135 pounder Marloes Coenen and #10 Unified ranked145 pounder Romy Ruyssen, eleven matches have been set in a press release sent out Monday night.
#4 ranked Lisa Ellis (14-7) will make her strawweight debut against Jessica Penne (8-1) in the co-main event. Strikeforce veteran Liz Carmouche will take on local fighter Ashleigh Curry (1-0); while Sarah D’Alelio (4-2) will face Shana Nelson (5-2).
“The time has come for a platform dedicated exclusively to building the growing women’s division in our great sport,” said Invicta Fighting Championships Vice President Shannon Knapp.
“Invicta is committed to increasing the depth of the women’s field and building female superstars by providing women athletes with the opportunity to compete and hone their skills on a consistent basis throughout the year.”
In other main card action, Leslie Smith (3-2) of Pleasant Hill, Calif. will face off with Kaitlin Young (7-5) of St. Louis Park, Minn. at bantamweight and Sally Krumdiack (9-4) of Bellingham, Wash. will duke it out with Sarah Schneider (5-5) of Kansas City, Mo. at flyweight (115 pounds).
The InvictaFC card will emminate from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, MO Apr. 28. The event is expected to be either televised or stream. Check out Wombat Sports in the next few weeks for details.
