It has been a decade in the making, but the rematch we have all been waiting for will happen June 19 in Friant, CA.
Boxing superstars Christy Martin and Mia St. John will duke it out once again, this time for the WBC light middleweight title. A statement about the fight was released over the weekend.
Christy Martin (49-6-3) is looking for her 50th win of her career and is hoping to put the controversial stoppage of her last fight behind her. St. John (46-11-2) is coming off a decision win and hopes to continue her trek for 50 wins. St. John has been wanting this rematch to avenge her loss to Martin in what was one of the biggest female boxing matches in history. Martin won the bout via decision in 2002 at the Pontiac Silverdome.

“I am excited about this opportunity to get my 50th win against Mia St John to finish my career,” said Martin. “I am honored to fight for the WBC World Title at Table Mountain Casino and look forward to becoming a World Champion once again. This time I will KO Mia, that’s as good a guarantee as you get.”
“I’ve waited nearly 10 years for this rematch,” stated St John. “I know I out-boxed Christy in the last fight, but this time I am going to BEAT her. Now we’ll see who the real WBC Champion is, La Gallina or La Guerrera.”
The Final Victory show which will also include four undercard bouts will be held in the Events Center at Table Mountain Casino in Friant, California, which is located just 15 miles outside Fresno. Tickets for this night of championship boxing will be priced at $70 VIP, $65 Gold, and $55 General Admission, and will go on sale on May 7th at 12 noon at tmcasino.com or at Table Mountain Casino. Doors will open at 6pm with the first bout scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, and you must be 18 years or older to attend the show.
No word on if this will be streamed.
