Stephany LeeThe first two members of the U.S. Women’s Olympic Wrestling team have decided.

Missouri Valley wrestling alumni Stephany Lee was dominant, running through the 72 kg Challengers bracket with two pins and a two period decision to face Ali Bernard in the two out of three match finals. Hawaii’s Lee never saw the third periods all day, defeating Bernard by never losing a period in both matches.

 

 

 

Kelsey CampbellIn the 55 kg/121 pound weight class, Oregon native Kelsey Campbell wrestled her way through the challenger’s tournament to face U.S. open champion Helen Maroulis. Campbell, who wrestles for Arizona State University, decisioned Randi Beltz, Michaela Hutchenson, and Katherine Fulp-Allen to get Maroulis for a two out of three match final. Campbell decisioned Maroulis in two straight; both going to the third period.

The third place finshers included Menlo College’s Katherine Fulp-Allen (55 kg) and the U.S. Army’s Irish Smith (72 kg).
