Three women’s combat sports will all be competing on the same day Wednesday for the London 2012 Olympics.
Besides the boxing semi-fianls featuring Team USA’s Marlen Esparza, and Claressa Sheilds; wrestling and taekwondo will start they competitions.
In wrestling, American Clarissa Chun will return for her second Olympics, hoping to better her 2008 Beijing Games performance and become the first US woman to get a wrestling gold medal. She will face China’s Shasha Zhoa in the preliminary round of the 48 kg/105.5 lbs one day tournament.
Also the 63 kg/139 lbs wrestling tournament will happen Wednesday with American Elena Pirozhkova getting a first round bye.
Wrestling will be streamed live on NBCSports.com/LiveExtra starting at 5 a.m. pacific/8 a.m. eastern.
If boxing and wrestling wasn’t enough, Taekwondo also starts Wednesday with the 49kg/108 lbs division. No Americans will be in action, however.
Taekwondo will be streamed at 1 a.m. pacific/4 a.m. eastern at NBCSports.com/LiveExtra.
