Wombat sports is dedicated to women in combat sports. Former news editor of “Fightergirls” MarQ Piocos has been covering Women’s MMA for over three years, having picked up coverage of wrestling, boxing, and grappling. It is his vision to bring some of the best coverage to help bring and promote the ever expanding popularity of women’s MMA, wrestling, and martial arts with some of the best writers and athletes.

As we head towards spring, more and more fights are being booked, kickboxing continues to thrive worldwide.

March starts up with several fights March 2 with Muay Thai champ and top fighter Claire Haigh will take the ring to face Marlene Leveque at Kings of Muay Thai Act III in Strasbourg, Luxembourg. Kitty Wong is also set to fight on the card.

Across the planet in Pomona, CA, the Journey Fight Series will have four female bouts March 2.

  • Melissa Reaume vs. Ashley Nichols
  • Janice MacAulay vs. Christina Peteraf
  • Kelsey Andries vs. Nichole Glazik
  • Kara Freilich vs. Molli Barg

The fights will stream for $15 on GoFightLive.tv. $5 of ticket sales will go to Breast Cancer Research.

The WBC International Super Flyweight title will be on the line as Kate Stables (14-2) takes on Ruth Ashdown (28-5) in Liverpool, England March 9.

Across the English Channel, Brenda Mace will face Pauline David March 9 in Lorie, France.

As we reported last week, Tiffany Van Soest will battle Natailie Yip March 15 in Las Vegas at Lion Fight Promotions. This will air on AXS TV.

May 18th in Marseille, France, Urban Boxing will have a four woman tounament. Among the participants:

  • Lindsay Scheer (USA)
  • Maria Pantazzi (Greece)
  • Paola Capucci (Italy)
  • Amel Dalby (France)

In a match for the WBC Mini-flyweight World Title, WBC Mini-weight champ Denise Mellor will go up a weight class to fight Loma Sitjatao for the vacant title June 22 in Bournemouth, UK.
