Stephanie Eggink gets a hard fought decision win over Brianna Van Buren at XFC 23 in Louisville, KY. Van Buren was no push over by any means, as she was able to take Eggink down and used her strength to escape a triangle attempt using a slam. Body shots and a knee helped Van Buren control the clinch later in the round. She fended off a guillotine attempt by Eggink at the end of the round.
Eggink fared better in round two with submission attempts off her back. It would be a back and forth third round as Van Buren and Eggink slugged it out to start out. Van Buren would get another takedown, but Eggink again worked towards submissions. Eggink was able to take Van Buren’s back and attempted a rear named choke as the final bell rang. Eggink would take the unanimous decision.
XFC will return June 14th in Tampa, FL with a strawweight bout rumored for the telecast.
