US Women’s Wrestling Team Goes 1-1 at Battle at the Falls

BattleFallsLogoIn what was a great way to end FILA’s “World Wrestling Month” Friday, the US women’s wrestling team faced the Ukraine and Canada in a duals meet at Niagara Falls, Canada.

The USA was able to win their dual with the Ukraine 16-13, but fell to Canada in the other duel 18-10. Canada would take a win over the Ukraine 20-11 to go 2-0 at the meet.

Current world champion and #2 ranked 63 kg wrestler Elena Pirozhkova from team USA was able pitch a shutout in her only match of the evening against the Ukraine’s Ganna Vasilenko.

On the Canadian side, #1 ranked 51 kg wrestler Jessica MacDonald and #6 ranked 63 kg wrestler Justine Bouchard went 2-0 in their matches.
