The International Olympic Committee has voted to re-instate wrestling as a sport for the 2020 games in Tokyo, Japan.

Wrestling went against squash and baseball/softball in the voting, which took place in Buenos Ares, Argentina Sunday. Wrestling won with 48% of the vote from the 95 nation IOC.

The IOC executive committee voted earlier this year to not include wrestling after the 2020 games, and a huge campaign, which included fighters from the MMA, pro-wrestling, and amateur wrestling worlds joining the cause to bring the sport back.

The presentation itself Sunday showed more diversity in the sport, as women were promoted just as much as they men. Canadian Olympic gold medalist Carol Huyhn and President of the French Wrestling Federation Lise Legrand were among the presenters.

The fight isn’t over yet, as in four year wrestling will need to fight for it’s spot again in the Olympics and solidify itself as a core sport.
