Wombat sports is dedicated to women in combat sports. Former news editor of “Fightergirls” MarQ Piocos has been covering Women’s MMA for over three years, having picked up coverage of wrestling, boxing, and grappling. It is his vision to bring some of the best coverage to help bring and promote the ever expanding popularity of women’s MMA, wrestling, and martial arts with some of the best writers and athletes.

In boxing on Thursday, Nadia Hokmi def. Linda Soto by majority decsion to win the vacant WBF flyweight title in Sarcelles, Val-d’Oise, France.

XFC will have two female bouts this weekend in Nashville, TN on AXS-TV.
The promotion will crown its first flyweight champion as Pearl Gonzales takes Cortney Casey. Both Casey (121.6) and Gonzlaes (123.2) made weight.
Casey is the former Tuff-n-uff flyweight champ and won impressively in her pro debut, getting the rear naked choke win over Kelly Warren in her pro debut at XFC 24.
Gonzalez went 7-1 as an ammy and lost a majority decision in her pro debut against Munah Holland. Gonzalez would rebound and win her XFC debut, getting the armbar win over Suzie Montero.
The other fight will feature strawweights Hannah Cifers (113.2) and Heather Jo Clark (113.2). Cifer will make her pro debut, as she went undefeated in her first seven fights as an amateur. She got an unanimous decision loss to Roya Darvishian in a five round fight this past July in her last amateur fight.
Clark (5-4), is coming off a split decision loss to Felice Herrig at Bellator this past March.
The match will air on AXS-TV Friday night.

On Saturday on Fox Sports 1, the #2 Unified ranked bantamweight Sarah Kaufman will take on #2 ranked flyweight Jessica Eye as both will debut in the UFC.
Kaufman (16-2) is coming off a split decision win over Leslie Smith. Her only two losses were to former Strikeforce champ Marloes Conenen and current UFC champion Ronda Rousey.
Eye (10-1) has won her last seven fights, including a submission over fan favorite Zoila Gurgel.
The match will be a part of the preliminary bouts of UFC 166, and will air on Fox Sports 1 Saturday.

Add Megumi Sugimoto vesus Sachiko Fujimori and Yukiko Seki versus Madoka Ebihara to the DEEP JEWEL November 4th card in Tokyo.

“The Ultimate Fighter” will be doing a recap show this Wednesday, but will be back to fights the following Wednesday. Sarah Moras and Peggy Morgan will duke it out in the last quarterfinal match.

Invicta wants atomweight champion Michelle Waterson to defend her belt once before considering a rematch with Jessica Penne. The name being pushed around a lot is DEEP-JEWELS champion Seo Hee Ham. Ham is set to defend her title November 7th in Japan, but could be available in early 2014.

Shayna Baszler will be in L.A. for a few weeks training with Josh Barnett. She is looking also to train with fellow TUF cast member Jessamyn Duke, who is training out of Ronda Rousey’s gym. Word is Duke is will be in SoCal for a while.
