In pro MMA action Thursday, Kelly McGill defeated Leslie Rodriguez via TKO at 1:33 of round 1 at Tachi Palace Fights 19. You can see the finish here.
In pro MMA action Wednesday at Arena Nightmare in Brazil, Elen Torres defeated Claudiana Dos Santos by TKO 4:20 round 1
In boxing action in Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina Thursday, Fernanda Soledad Alegre def. Roxana Beatriz Laborde by unanimous decision.
Marina Shafir has her second pro match booked as she will take on Nikita Netjes at Chaos At The Casino 5 in Inglewood, CA August 10. Shafir got her first win as a pro on the promotion’s 4th card this past April.
Netjes has back to back losses and is coming back after a year’s absence.
Glena Avila will return to action August 22 as she faces Stevie VanAssche at Excitefight in Marysville, WA. Avila (3-2) won in her most recent bout this past April, getting a split decision win over Katie Howard. VanAssche (1-1) won by first round TKO in her last fight.
No word on if this will be streamed.
Jordan Gaza has announced she is retiring from MMA a few weeks. No clear reason was given on why she decided to hang up the gloves, but this past week it was revealed Gaza is pregnant.
The pro MMA fighter was 1-1 as a pro and looked like she had a good career ahead of her before deciding the retire. We will her the best.
Aleksandra Albu popped up on Fox Sports and has told the website she is planning to drop to 115 as she isn’t built for the 135 division. She is still sidelined with an “undisclosed injury” but is waiting for a doctor’s clearance to train and fight.
The officials have been announced for the upcoming title match between UFC champion Ronda Rousey and Alexis Davis. The referee will be Yves Lavigne, with judges are Derek Cleary, Doug Crosby, and Sal D’Amato.
Alex Chambers got her fight license in Nevada this past week and is official for TUF 20.
Jay-Z’s “Static” series did a short piece on the feud between Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. You can watch it here.

Rumors
With former Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker being announce the new president of Bellator, Coker will most likely bring back at least one women’s division to the company. Don’t expect this until at least next year as he tries to “right the ship” and reorganize the promotion.
Combate America states it will launch a female division in the fall. The promotion, which is targeted for the Latino audience, was started by UFC co-founder Campbell McLaren. It currently airs on Mun2 in the U.S.
If you didn’t catch it in last week’s column, XFC will be having an event in the fall and is expected to have Pearl Gonzales defending her title.
Sara McMann’s manager has stated Sarah Kaufman’s camp have refused several dates given to them for a possible fight. He states that Kaufman is “ducking her”. McMann has put out an open challenge to the UFC bantamweight division.
Holly Holm, Paige VanZant, and Juliana Lima are all expected to announce fights soon.

World Series of Fighting strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar will defend her title for the first time as she takes on Japan’s Emi Fujino in Las Vegas Saturday. The match will air on NBC Sports Net, with the main card starting at 6 p.m. pst/9 p.m. est.
Aguilar (17-4) is on an eight fight win streak, winning the belt in her last outing with first round submission win over Alida Gray.
Fujino (13-7) is coming off a loss to Mizuki Inoue by decision, but has won 5 of her last eight fights.
Both Aguilar (114.8) and Fujino (115) came in on weight. Herb Dean will be refereeing the bout with Adalaide Byrd, Caro Uso, and Glenn Trowbridge as judges.
Another bout on the card sees the WSOF debut of CFA featherweight tournament champion Ashlee Evans-Smith taking on InvictaFC vet Marciea Allen. Smith (2-0) got attention on the national scene defeating Fallon Fox in the CFA finals. Smith will be dropping to 135 for the contest. Allen (3-1) has won back to back fights.
Smith came in at 135, while Allen tipped the scales at 137.8. Allen will have to drop 1.8 pounds in two hours or else give up some of her fight purse.
The match will be a part of the prelims, which will stream on MMAJunkie.com Saturday at 3 p.m. pst/6 p.m. est.

Boxing
A pair of title bouts are set for Vienna, Austria Saturday.
WIBF super flyweight champion Eva Voraberger looks to add on more belts to her collection as she takes on Thailand’s Nonggift Onesongchaigym for the vacant WBF super flyweight titles. Voaberger (17-3) will also be defending her WIBF title. She got a first round KO over Fleis Djendji in her last fight this past December.
Nonggift (6-1-1) hasn’t lost a fight since her pro debut.
The other title fight sees Oezlem Sahin battling Buangern Onesongchaigym for the vacant WIBF/WBF/GBU minimumweight titles. Sahin (17-0-1) is the former interim WIBF light flyweight champion. Buangern (11-6-1) is looking for her first title.
Aniya Seki looks to defend her WBC Silver super flyweight title for a second time as she faces Judith Rodriguez in Glattbrug, Switzerland. Seki (24-2) is a two division champion, holding belts in the bantamweight division as well. She has won seven straight.
Rodriguez (6-7) is looking to snap a four fight win streak and win her first title.
